Made from AR500 steel, this 3/8-in thick target will easily withstand rifle rounds up to 7.62 and are the preferred choice for rifles. Ensure the speed of the bullet is below 2900 fps at point of impact to avoid pitting. PRECISION SHOOTING: 3/8-in AR500 steel targets work great for the following calibers: 223, 5.56, 5.45×39, 7.62×39, and 308. For velocities over 3000 fps MV use at 200 yards minimum. Handguns should be used no closer than 10 yards and rifles 100 yards.
